These twelve archetypes are not labels — they are ways of understanding how a child moves, relates, and responds to the world.
You may recognise one immediately.
Mover
The Mover needs to move their body to understand the world.
When balanced, they are active, engaged, and full of life.
When overwhelmed, they can seem restless, impulsive, or unable to settle.
Watcher
The Watcher takes in the world quietly before stepping forward.
When balanced, they are observant, thoughtful, and deeply aware.
When overwhelmed, they may withdraw, hesitate, or stay on the edges.
Helper
The Helper is drawn to care for others and offer support.
When balanced, they are kind, generous, and connected.
When overwhelmed, they may over-give, lose themselves, or seek constant approval.
Joker
The Joker brings play, humour, and lightness into the space.
When balanced, they are joyful, creative, and socially engaging.
When overwhelmed, they may disrupt, avoid, or struggle to take things seriously.
Rebel
The Rebel challenges what doesn’t feel right.
When balanced, they are strong, honest, and clear.
When overwhelmed, they resist everything — even what supports them.
Friend
The Friend seeks connection, belonging, and shared experience.
When balanced, they are loyal, cooperative, and warm.
When overwhelmed, they may cling, people-please, or struggle to be alone.
Imagineer
The Imagineer lives in ideas, stories, and inner worlds.
When balanced, they are creative, expressive, and full of possibility.
When overwhelmed, they may drift, disconnect, or struggle with reality.
Planner
The Planner looks for order, structure, and a sense of control.
When balanced, they are organised, thoughtful, and purposeful.
When overwhelmed, they may become rigid, anxious, or controlling.
Energy
The Energy brings intensity, excitement, and big emotional expression.
When balanced, they are passionate, vibrant, and alive.
When overwhelmed, they may become explosive, dysregulated, or hard to contain.
Thinker
The Thinker processes the world through logic, patterns, and understanding.
When balanced, they are curious, focused, and insightful.
When overwhelmed, they may overthink, withdraw, or disconnect from emotion.
Builder
The Builder wants to create, construct, and make things real.
When balanced, they are practical, persistent, and capable.
When overwhelmed, they may become stuck, frustrated, or overly fixed on outcomes.
Explorer
The Explorer is driven to discover, roam, and try new things.
When balanced, they are curious, brave, and open to experience.
When overwhelmed, they may become scattered, impulsive, or constantly seeking the next thing.
